Batteries Recharged Ready for Leg 3 – The Southern Ocean!
So after a 7 day break in Cape Town the batteries are well and truly re-charged prior to the start of the next leg. They will need to be as this leg takes us across the Southern Ocean via the roaring forties to Albany in Western Australia. Sounds like it will be another tough start as well, a beat for the first couple of days before a low pressure system comes along with 50knot westerlies!
Cape Town is certainly a place I would visit again. The welcome was great, the food fantastic and the scenery outstanding. I managed to squeeze in a trip down the coast to Cape Of Good Hope and Cape Point, as well as a trip up Table Mountain on a day when the weather was fantastic.
The kit is now all washed and re-packed, sea boots waterproofed and polished and the final shave taken.
For this leg all the gents have agreed to take part in Movember during the leg. So for the duration of the leg none of us will be shaving and I will attempt to take a photo each day as my stubble grows. This is a further incentive for people to donate funds to charity on my behalf. I believe the ladies on board are also adopting the no shave policy?!
At the end of the leg, in Albany, we will be having a mass shave to step through a variety of different tache styles!
