Been a While……
Ok so it’s been a while since I’ve posted! But it’s been a busy summer, what with holidays, cycling, some sailing, and most importantly my daughters wedding!!
So that is all done with now and based on this mornings temperature summer is now over as well 🙁
I did manage to get down to see the Clipper 11-12 finish and that was fantastic. You can check out some photos I managed to snap both out on the water as the boats crossed the finish line and at the presentation on my Flickr Page.
Whilst I was down at the finish in Southampton I managed to catch up with a couple of people I did my level 1 training with and met some new people as well. Also whilst I was there worked out the sizes I need for the crew kit at Henri Lloyd stand and got my order in for that lot. That got me thinking about other kit I’ll need so worked out (I think) what that is, suppose I’m quite fortunate in that I sail already that I have quite a bit of kit already. First on the list to buy before I do the level 2 training on the first weekend in November is a new sleeping bag. Thinking of going for a Gauss Dreamseeker bag. Like the idea of being able to get into it in my wet oilies!
Managed to get in quite a bit of sailing in during the year so far apart from the level 1 training, couple of weekend regattas and a longer 4 day regatta on the Sunsail F40’s all as skipper and helm, so plenty more helming practice in the bag. Final one of the year coming up at the end of October, the week before I go for level 2 training.
Also had a nice week on the Norfolk Broads in a 22′ Broads Yacht with my girlfriend. Great boats provided by Colin Buttifant kept in immaculate condition! Weather could have been kinder though!
So now need to get back into the swing of things for the Clipper – kit, vaccinations, start to push the fundraising, get back to practicing baking and bread making, brush up on my Ocean Nav and get the sextant out its box, get on some theory courses I’ve been putting off for years, etc. etc. Could be a busy few months ahead!
